Description
Corporation cat in green. A jacquard tapestry by Kuba Sowiński from the collection of Corporation.
Another look for corporation life from an independent observer's perspective.
The word "corporation" derives from corpus, the Latin word for body, or a "body of people". By the time of Justinian (reigned 527–565), Roman law recognized a range of corporate entities under the names Universitas, corpus or collegium.
How much of this definition carries over to the work and rights of corporate employees?
Professor Janina Filek, Polish ethicist, writes: "We can therefore say that the power of hierarchical organizational culture enslaves employees, marketing power enslaves customers, legal and financial power enslaves and sometimes even pacifies local communities, while the financial and economic power that corporations have enslaves the governments of many countries, but the weakest ones to the greatest extent. Therefore, the question: who is free on the market? becomes rhetorical."
